Fly - Fucellia species-a

Fly - Fucellia species-a
Tolmie State Park, Olympia, Thurston County, Washington, USA
July 26, 2008

Moved
Moved from Muscoidea. I assume there is only one Pacific Northwest coastal fly like this.

I've also been finding these
I've also been finding these in some shoreline surveys we've been doing. So far, they've come up in samples from Deception Pass (early July), Burien (mid-late June), and Olympia (early August).

Muscoidea
Wing spots are very unusual in this group. Should be easy to ID for an expert.
