Size: about an inch
He was resting on the side of our pole barn below a security light. He stayed there for quite some time.

Ophioninae…
The orange coloration, laterally flattened abdomen, large ocelli, and wing venation indicates an ophion wasp in this subfamily.

No biting...
Members of the Ophioninae thankfully can't bite, but they do have a sharpened ovipositor that can be extruded and used in defense to "sting". Ichneumon and braconid wasps are highly attracted to lights, so you will likely see more of them over time.

Looks like an Ichneumon to me! Ophion, it seems to be. Careful, they can give a painful little bite! :)
