Midge - Cricotopus - female

Midge - Cricotopus - Female
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
June 6, 2021
I think the midge may be in the Genus Cricotopus. It looks as if the midge may have a horsehair worm (Nematomorpha) parasite. I thought it was surprising to see such a small insect with this parasite.

Cricotopus female
Midges usually get hit by nematodes - this may be one. The other two flies are also chironomids.
