Male and Female Orchesella cincta

Male and Female Orchesella cincta
Orr, Minnesota, USA
December 27, 2021
First image is suspected male, second image is suspected female. The differences seem to be pretty subtle in adults. I find it easier to tell subadults apart.

Marked location is where they were collected, I’ve been culturing them at home for a while now

Indeed. Both shots are a male. It could be different specimens given one has more white in the thoracic patches than the other.
Males are more black and white.
In females there is more orange/brown.

Thank you Frans :)
After I posted these guys I began to suspect that maybe they were both males. I will try to photograph an adult female today for my personal use ;)

I will simply frass this post

If these are two different individuals...
...then please unlink the images. Linking is reserved for multiple views of the same specimen.

You can cross reference the two by placing thumbnails in the Remarks section of each, if desired. If you need assistance to do that, just let me know.

Thanks!
