Swamp cicada Neotibicen tibicen - Neotibicen tibicen

Swamp cicada Neotibicen tibicen - Neotibicen tibicen
Bethesda, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
September 27, 2021
Posted on iNat as swamp cicada, a reviewer said it was hybrid between ssp tibicen and ssp australis, but then when I asked for specifics, reviewer reconsidered and said “maybe just a phenotype in your area,” adding “the bisecting line in the collar is definitely throwing me off.” Second reviewer said this “looks like australis ssp. but there are a lot of regional morphs with this species.” Second reviewer recommended posting photo here “for YAZAN, an expert in Neotibicen/Megatobicen.” Hoping to add more photos after this posts. Appreciate any help!
