Gelechioid ex Conocarpus erectus

Gelechioid ex Conocarpus erectus
Big Pine Key, Monroe County, Florida, USA
January 14, 2021
Size: FW 3.5mm
Found as a larva mining on Conocarpus erectus (green buttonwood) on 12/31/20. Made a trumpet mine. Emerged through the upper epidermis and did not wander before pupating. It also became rounder (instead of flat as it was in the mine) and turned a pinkish red once it emerged. It emerged from the mine then almost immediately pupated on 1/5/2021. It eclosed 1/14/2021. This was the only individual of this kind found the entire week I spent there.

Unfortunately, Terry Harrison says this is a female with genitalia that are totally uninformative, not even allowing him to place it to family. I'm guessing Elachistidae (as Thomas did here) based on the naked, spiny pupa, attached to the substrate by its cremaster... but it looks like someone will have to come up with a male to get further with this.

Did you keep it?
I'm not sure what to make of it

Specimen
Yes, I sent the adult to Charley Eiseman

Oh, good!
I emailed him this since it's not listed in his book. I see you're on top of it though!
