Nepticulidae, mine on Willow, upper side of leaf - Stigmella fuscotibiella
Saylorville WMA, Boone County, Iowa, USA
July 17, 2021
July 7, 2021: sawfly larvae collected on Willow, Salix sp., and adjacent Cottonwood, Populus deltoides, by M. Leoschke. The vast majority of the collected larvae were on willow with only 7 on cottonwood.

As often happens when Mark collects insect larvae on native plants (and extra host plants), there is more in the collection that originally thought.

July 17, 2021: sorting out the above, found the spent Willow leaf mine.

July 13, 2021: Gray Furcula larva

and Viceroy larva

July 22, 2021: an adult moth, Caloptilia stigmatella
