unknown large beetle - Geotrupes stercorarius

unknown large beetle - Geotrupes stercorarius
New Scotland, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada
September 9, 2021
Large scarab-like beetle scurrying around leaf litter near mushrooms in wet mature mixed forest. Tips of antenna bright orange; green irridescence on elytra. Unfortunately the only photo I was able to get. Assuming that is a balsam for or hemlock needle just above the beetle, the beetle must be around 25-30mm.

Update.
I may have made an error in the identification of what I've called a fir or hemlock needle in the photo and my estimation of the beetle's length. The beetle could well be somewhat smaller than I estimated and I suppose that may influence your ID? My apologies and thanks for your input.

Geotrupes balyi
I can clearly see the sutural striae outlining the scutellum. This is for sure Geotrupes balyi.
