moth (geometrid?), unknown sp. - Eudeilinia herminiata

Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, USA
Size: about 2.4 cm across

I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone would identify this moth to species. I largely work with caterpillars, and am much more familiar with them than the adults. Sorry that I don't have an image showing the entire critter - I take pictures through a dissecting scope, which is fine for small adult moths and their larvae, but means that I cannot capture images of entire large individuals

Northern Eudeilinia

This seems to be Eudeilinia herminiata (Hodges 6253)

I think you're right, especially since this adult emerged from a pupa found on dogwood. The spots on this individual seemed to be a bit more blackish than brownish, but perhaps that was due to either individual variation or the lighting conditions. Are you (or anyone else out there) at all familiar with the caterpillar of this species ... do you know if it ever ties leaves together to make shelters? I ask this because I think I might have had an early instar of this species, and it was found between a couple of dogwood leaves silked together. Thanks very much for the ID!

Sorry but I can find no images of the larvae. Perhaps someone else will comment. If you have anything verified, including the pupa, please submit it.
