Jumping spider (Pelegrina?) on Spiranthes tuberosa - Hentzia palmarum

Jumping spider (Pelegrina?) on Spiranthes tuberosa - Hentzia palmarum
Barnstable County, Massachusetts, USA
August 17, 2021
Unintimidated by the camera and surprisingly feisty. I'm not sure whether such behavior is typical of this species (or genus) or if it was just desperate for a meal.

Moved from Spiders.

Hentzia palmarum
a mature male. Like Phidppus jumpers, they're pretty bold and aren't fazed by much. If a mature male sees its reflection in your lens, it's liable to jump at it.

Thanks! It probably won't surprise you to hear that my photography session with this spider was cut short when it leapt towards me. Perhaps it was going after the lens, as you suggested it might. Whatever its target was, I couldn't find it again despite careful searching.
