Callobius sierra/gertschi - Callobius gertschi - male

Callobius sierra/gertschi - Callobius gertschi - Male
North Fork Yuba River, Sierra County, California, USA
September 17, 2021
T. Rickman found two pairs of these spiders under rocks and collected them, later sending them to me for ID and to donate to CAS as specimens. They match up nicely to C. sierra/gertschi in Leech 1972, I think - the males of those two species are apparently almost inseparable while the females should be separable by the epigynum, but I am finding it hard to be certain which species we have here... I think I favor sierra somewhat, but that species is only known from one NV locality, while Leech mentions specimens of gertschi from closer to this locality. Hope to compare with reference specimens at CAS if we have both species there... Comments or corrections welcome.

Live images of one of these spiders from T. Rickman is at iNat here:

Moved
Moved from Callobius.

Det. Stephen Lew, who was kind enough to examine this specimen.

Unfortunately -
I checked the CAS collection today and I can't find any determined specimens of either C. gertschi or sierra.
