Veined White - Artogeia napi? - Pieris marginalis

Veined White - Artogeia napi? - Pieris marginalis
Mt.Tamalpias, Marin County, California, USA
May 6, 2006

Moved
Moved from Whites and Yellows.

more or less
Napi's the European species that is no longer considered to be in North America. I assume this would be Margined White (Pieris marginalis) on location.

Name situation is confusing.
Butterflies through Binoculars The West (2001) has it Mustard White (Pieris napi). Apparaently, this is dated.

butterfliesandmoths.org has it Margined White.

Do we have 2-3 different individuals here? On the left - no dot - would be male. Center photo - with dot - would be female, according the source cited above.

2 Butterflies
Ron: My apologies, you are absolutely correct. The 2nd & 3rd pictured butteflies are the same; whereas the first butterfly is a different individual from last two. Hope this helps. Regards, Scott

Different individuals
Will you please unlink the one that isn't the same individual. And, if they are two different sexes it would be a very good idea to edit your entries and add that info.
This is why it is important to follow the instructions about linking same individual only, to avoid confusion.

Glassberg
Glassberg's about the only one who doesn't accept the split. I think that's my biggest issue with him and NABA but this isn't really the place for that discussion.
