Apamea quinteri ? - Apamea

Apamea quinteri ? - Apamea
Morgantown - (Dorsey’s Knob Park), Monongalia County, West Virginia, USA
June 20, 2014
Attracted to dusk to dawn light.

Moved
Moved from ID Request. While this could possibly be quinteri, I cannot seem to rule out this being a worn version of the more likely Apamea cariosa. See MONA Fascicle 26-9 linked at the species pages.

Apamea quinteri
With the doubled orbicular spot open laterally, AM and PM lines doubled with broken AM line touching the orbicular spot, doubled reniform spot, black basal dash, black streaks in the median/subterminal/terminal areas, scalloped outer margin, last loop of the subterminal line visible at inner margin, this looks like Apamea quinteri. There is also a patch with two small indentations under the reniform spot. Looks much like photo by Mark Dreiling from 2011. No W-mark in subterminal area as seen in other Apamea.

iNat ID
I often paste a link to my iNat ID of same individual here on bugguide when the ID is by a known expert in the field. Not required, but may add weight to ID or spur discussion.
