Syrphid Fly of Some Type? - Toxomerus geminatus - Female
Springfield, Calhoun County, Michigan, USA
July 31, 2008
On a rose leaf. Can it be ID'd? Thanks.

Yes, Ron
I have to agree with you after a bit more scutiny. I see the difference in the patterns other than the keyhole. Darn!

Enlightenment?
Love to hear that Darn!

I'll bet you have it now.

Thanks, guys. So glad to see
Thanks, guys. So glad to see all of us learning here:) I will mark as female and move to T. geminatus.

Looks like
a toxomerus marginatus. Maybe a female. What do you think, Ron?

Genus right.
See the keyhole? T. geminatus, I'd say.

Did see
the keyhole but it doesn't look as rounded. Those pointed markings to either side made me wonder.
