KATYDID? - Meconema thalassinum - female

KATYDID? - Meconema thalassinum - Female
Greenville, Providence County, Rhode Island, USA
July 10, 2002
Size: ~ 1/2"
This was taken in the morning, around 8 AM. It is inside the grooved-in area of a metal, green, wire fence stake.

Drumming katydid.
This is a female (note ovipositor) nymph (no wings) of a drumming katydid. Neat find.

Drumming katydid
Thank you, Eric, I sensed it was some kind of katydid, but couldn't find it in any guide. And, a neat find to boot! Marcia
