Sap-sucking insect - Odontoloxozus longicornis

Sap-sucking insect - Odontoloxozus longicornis
Williamson County, Texas, USA
July 22, 2008
Size: ~ 1 inch
This large, long-legged, insect moved rapidly over the rough bark of an old ash tree until it came to the sap flow (also being used by hackberry butterflies, flies and ants) where it settled in briefly. Because of the "terrain" I was not able to get any lateral shots of it to see, let alone show, its mouthparts--it was in a crevice.
