Carabidae (Ground Beetles) » Harpalinae » Harpalitae » Platynini » Tanystoma

While working on a specimen of Tanystoma I looked at the genus page and there were no resources of help with the 5 species identification. Peter Messer suggested I look at 2 publications which I did.

I added both publications to the "Books" library as (1) and (2) with a link to their source at JSTOR.

I think those publications should be listed on the genus page for Tanystoma as resources. Please let me know if I need to change anything on those "Book" entries. I don't do that often.

Yes, both the books and the links tabs
will first list entries that are more specific to the page you are on when you click them and then less specific as you scroll down. The specificity also depends on which page you are on when you list the books initially. The books and links are on a page the same way images are. Since these books were loaded to the Tanystoma and the Tanystoma cuyama pages, they will show up first when you are on those pages, but not, for example, if you are on the Harpalinae page when you click on books.

Added both to the genus page
Thanks for adding those to the BG library!

Thank you.
Once you added the references to the "Info - Identification" box, I see that the two articles are also automatically sent to the top of the "Books" page for genus Tanystoma. That's a nice feature I was unaware of.

Great!
Thanks

It's always good to add to BugGuide's library.
For old titles it's useful to run a key word search under "Books" to make sure they're not already posted. It sounds like you did that. Thank you.

I guess you can't fix the Genus "Info" page though? That would be helpful for the next lost soul.

One could easily add link(s) on the Genus Info page
to the relevant articles.

I don't think so.
I'm not an "Editor", only a "Contributor" so I don't have permissions to edit the "Info" page, only my own submissions.

If I had fewer competing projects,
I would have time to update many carabid pages equally in need of reference citations.
