Canterbury River elmid - Macronychus glabratus

Canterbury River elmid - Macronychus glabratus
Louden, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, USA
July 27, 2008
Size: about 3.5 mm
I found two of these guys clinging to a waterlogged branch in the Canterbury River. They bear strong resemblance to images of this species posted by Tim Moyer. Since the genus has only one species in North America I figure this has to be Macronychus glabratus.

true colors
I like yours, showing their true living colors much better! :)

I never attempted a face view like yours
but I thought I could see one stubby antenna in a couple of my shots. You do all the hard work and I just use the guide :-)
