Identification

Holarctic adjective and proper noun - belonging or pertaining to a geographical division comprising the Nearctic (shaded green above) and Palearctic (shaded magenta above) regions.

Sometimes used as a noun, "the Holarctic", an abbreviated form of "the holarctic region". See the summary from Wikipedia--Holarctic, for instance:

The Holarctic ecozone refers to the habitats found throughout the northern continents of the world as a whole. This region is divided into the Palearctic, consisting of Northern Africa and all of Eurasia, with the exception of Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent, and the Nearctic, consisting of North America north to southern Mexico.
