Wasp species? - Polistes

Wasp species? - Polistes
Kino Springs , Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
August 11, 2018
Size: 3/4-1 inch + or -
While my twin brother and I visited Kino Springs, I oberved this reddish wasp on vegetation

Possibly P. canadensis
The clypeal structure looks, to me, in line with an Aphanilopterus (i.e. P. canadensis) rather than a Palisotius (i.e. P. major castaneicolor). Though it's worth saying that both species can look quite similar in photos.
