Milkweed Beetle - Tetraopes tetrophthalmus
Wachusett Mountain, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
August 3, 2008
Size: 12 mm
Seen on milkweed. It fell off or jumped when I moved for a better angle and I lost it in the grass.

Thanks
I knew about milkweed bugs -- shot some today -- but not milkweed beetles.

I have never seen one...
except for pictures but I have ran across numerous othee Longhorn Beetles. I have found that, as a defence, they will simply roll off of the plant and fall to the ground. Much better hiding spot...

That's what it did
That's what it did. The other longhorn beetles didn't really care about, most of them because they were too busy mating. One pair walked under the flower until I stuck my camera down there. Shots to follow.
