ID me please! - Myrmekiaphila comstocki
Denton, Denton County, Texas, USA
March 29, 2022
Size: 1.5 in
Found on my kitchen floor at 3am in Denton, TX. I have seen several of this species outside my home - typically dwelling in dark hidden places (under large rocks or in brick or cinder block holes in the garden) in messy, loosely constructed webs. This specimen is (temporarily) being held in a standard sized baby food jar and takes up the majority of the bottom. Measures approx. 38mm in length.

Moved from ID Request.

Appears to be
Myrmekiaphila comstocki (other species in Myrmekiaphila should have a more easterly range, but I'm not super familiar with mygalomorph spiders in general).
