Tesagrotis piscipellis does not have a unicolorous brown or reddish brown head and thorax as in amia. (1)
Tesagrotis atrifrons does not have a unicolorous brown or reddish brown head and thorax as in amia. (1)
Tesagrotis corrodera has a unicolorous reddish-orange head and thorax as in amia, but has pale shading along the costal area of the forewing that extends to the reniform and orbicular spots. (1)
