midsize moth - Catocala innubens

Size: ~30 mm head to wingtip
Had the look of an underwing in flight - orange or pink with stripes across on the hindwings, I think. I only found it because it blundered into my storm door, then flew into this lilac when I went to investigate. I had to use a flash, so the color may be a little off.

I think you have it. Take a look at this link for the spread-wing pinned specimen of Catocala innubens. Did you get a look at the orange-banded hindwing when it flew?

that right-hand image is the best match I've seen for those bluish scales near the body of mine. Yes, I saw the hind wing but only in passing, enough to see a bright color and stripes, but no detail.

My guess: Catocala innubens (scintillans form)?
