Olixon - Olixon melinsula - female

Olixon - Olixon melinsula - Female
Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, USA
April 15, 2022
Markings appear to match the description for o. melinsula, not banksii, but I found this one in the same habitat and 20-30 yds from where I previously found 2 banksii. I collected it and still have it.

Agreed
There's definitely a sulcus on the malar space from the eye to the mandible, so that eliminates O. banksii by definition. Likewise, the evident absence of 2 remnant veins should rule out all other species. This keys rather smoothly to O. melinsula in the Lohrmann et al. (2012) paper.(1) Floridian specimens are noted to often be lighter than specimens more to the west of its range (e.g. Louisiana) and indeed look quite comparable to yours.
