Red-headed Ash Borer - Neoclytus acuminatus

Red-headed Ash Borer - Neoclytus acuminatus
Tulsa Zoo, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, USA
August 6, 2008
I've always found this species pretty easy to identify. We see them at the zoo occasionally, but mostly inside buildings. When we bring limbs and branches in for animal perching we notice the telltale sign of the little sawdust pile, meaning a beetle of some sort is going to emerge.
