Beetle Request - Cryptocephalus notatus

Beetle Request - Cryptocephalus notatus
DeSoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA
April 10, 2008
A bug a day to fill in those little Data Squares! This looks like the pictures of Cryptocephalus notatus in the Guide (Thanks to Mike Quinn for pointing me in this direction!) but the black spot on this one does not extend all the way to the edges. Captured on Pittisporum in my back yard.

Cryptocephalus notatus sellat
Cryptocephalus notatus sellatus. The basal orange spot attaining both the scutellum and widely down the side to the apical spot keyed it out to this subspecies.

Wow!
It's nice to "put this one to bed" so neatly! Thank-you. I'll move it to the species page and maybe someone can create a page for it so the next photographer will recognize it.

Genus for now, it looks prett
Genus for now, it looks pretty close, but since I'm not an expert I can only agree on the genus.
