Beetle larva - Chlaenius

Beetle larva - Chlaenius
Ashburnham, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
August 7, 2008
Size: 14mm
I found this larva under a rock in a damp part of a trail right next to a swamp. I think it's a carabid, and was wandering if it might be a bombadier or something similar.

Moved from Larvae.

opinion of Kirill Makarov:
"a very nice Chlaenius -- one of the larger Chlaenius (s.str.) members"

I kept it, in hopes that it'll mature.

Gotta be a carabid
Bombadier larvae are parasitic on water beetle pupae.
