... for ID'ing this Net-winged Midge. I've never seen one before. I assume the Blepharicera sp. ID is based on it being the only documented genus in the eastern U.S. rather than any specific morphological features. Or are there obvious (to the naked eye) characteristics that distinguish Blepharicera from more western genera? (Judging from my cursory read of the Courtney text, Blepharicera is tough to key to species.)

 
Wing veins
Enough wing veins are visible here to identify it to genus. Other genera have an additional branch of Rs (fusing with R1) or an m-cu crossvein.
