Butterfly and Mystery Insect

Butterfly and Mystery Insect

I was ready to call this Silvery Checkerspot - Chlosyne nycteis, but then became less confident. Pearl Crescent is more likely, but the orange pattern on the sub-apical forewing area looks like possible Silvery Checkerspot. I also can't tell for sure if there are pale spots inside the dark submarginal spots on the hindwing, but not all Silvery have these.

Moved from Silvery Checkerspot.

One possibility...
...for the "mystery insect":

It's an awkward angle, though.

Thank you
Looks like an interesting possibility! Thanks. I was really curious about it.
