Explanation of Names
Named after Thomas S. Van Aller, of Mobile Alabama, who collected the type specimens for Engelhardt.

Wingspan: ♂ 20-23 mm, ♀ 22-24 mm. (1)
Forewing length 9-12 mm. (2)
Identification
Adult - a melanistic form accounts for 5% of specimens in Florida. (2)
Range
Across the Gulf Coast Plain from Georgia to Mississippi. (2)
Type Location: Chickasaw, Alabama.
Food
Unknown but possibly holly (Hex) species. (2)
