Splendid Royal Moth larva – Citheronia splendens - Citheronia splendens

Splendid Royal Moth larva – Citheronia splendens - Citheronia splendens
Molino Basin, Pima County, Arizona, USA
August 7, 2008
Size: ~25 mm
On Gossypium thurberi, Thurber's Cotton.

Really cool!
It's great we're getting more images of this species lately! Moth guy is right, we could really use a series showing the different instars of a single individual.

Awesome
You should keep an eye on it and post pics as it develops into a full grown larva.

I'd love to, but...
...I'm in Brazil now and for the next 2 weeks. Maybe Bob Beatson can be convinced to do it. A friend was surprised we found it in the Catalinas, as the species may not be known north of the Santa Ritas.
