ptinid - Tricorynus

ptinid - Tricorynus
Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
May 30, 2022
Size: including head ~3.8mm
Keyed out to Mesocoelopodinae using the Arango & Young Wisconsin key (1). Mesocoelopus appears to be ruled out by the shape of the antennae (1) and the presence of elytral and tibial striae (2). The presence of what I've interpreted as the "hook" on the metathoracic ventrite rules appears to rule out Cryptorama(2). AFAIK, that leaves Tricorynus. I looked over the White revision of the genus (3) but the character states are much too subtle for my amateur eyes.

I'd appreciate confirmation/correction of the genus ID. TIA

(The body length entered is just straight from front to back rather than a contour length along the dorsal surface)

Moved
Moved from Death-watch and Spider Beetles.

Genus is sound. These guys are difficult to get to species even with specimens in hand.
