It was a large Pentatomid
I'd estimate it was in the 15mm range. Thanks for the help John and Jane.

After staring at numerous images
on the web, we felt these might be Apateticus, and so moved all the images
here
, but we need an expert to stop in and confirm this. Was this unusually large?
