Red-Footed Robber Fly - Promachus rufipes - female

Red-Footed Robber Fly - Promachus rufipes - Female
Daphne, Baldwin County, Alabama, USA
August 12, 2008
Like Bug Guide needs one more robber fly. Still, I had to submit this photo. I shot it with my old backup 5 MP Sony DSC-H1. It's still a good point-and-shoot, if you can get close enough. BTW I'm thinking female Promachus. Is species rufipes? Am I close?

Moved
Moved from Giant Robber Flies.

Never sure
with these, Promachus maybe?

I would agree.
Moving to genus page...Really outstanding image!

Please try not to get jaded.
I was ready to stop taking "just another grasshopper" photos, then the next several turned out to be at least somewhat important. Once you start editing before you shoot, you pass up some potentially fine stuff!

End of lecture. BTW, nice shot!
