Is this Hoplitis producta? - Hoplitis - Male
Saint Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, USA
June 18, 2022
Size: About 7mm
I’ve seen this bee in my urban backyard on multiple occasions over the past week—on annual lobelia, Salvia nemorosa, and creeping Charlie. Zach Portman kindly narrowed the ID to Subgenus Alcidamea on iNaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/122221920), and then I keyed it to Hoplitis producta on discoverlife.org, based upon the shape of the bee’s S2 bulge, visible in the 2nd photo above.
