Ichneumonid Wasps (two individuals, for comparison)

Ichneumonid Wasps (two individuals, for comparison)
Buncombe County, North Carolina, USA
June 25, 2022
The wasp in question is on the left. The presumed Megarhyssa greenei is on the right. Both wasps are inserting their abdomens into the same hole. The wasp in question is about 1/2 to 2/3rds the size of the Megarhyssa greenei. They share roughly similar head and thorax yellow coloration (though the smaller wasp has fainter dark markings than the larger wasp). Can Megarhyssa greenei males be so different in size? Or is the smaller wasp a different species?
