a hopper i found with what appears to be a dryinid larvae... thought i would see what happened so i put it in a jar...

. This is the larva of the planthopper parasite moth, and the cocoon in your other image matches this one:

dryinid
interesting... any other tips on rearing one of these? i have it in a jar, top covered with net, and i mist it every once in a while. it has been like this for about 2 weeks. any other information would be grand. thanks.

It sounds like you're doing the best you can at this time. Typically for dryinids the worm-like larva leaves the host and spins a silken cocoon on the soil surface, leaf surface, on bark, etc. Your specimen looks like it has a much more complex structure produced than any I've seen for Dryinidae.
