I believe this is Xestia perquiritata. They have a bit of individual variation and All-Leps shows some good matches.

Hi Tom -
do you think this could be one of the Dagger Moths? Looks a bit like Acronicta fragilis to my eye, although I'm not sure if that moth occurs in your area. I'm not a moth expert at all... what do you think?

It looks very close, but not quite the same. I just looked through all the MPG photos, and didn't see one that matched up quite good enough.
