Ground Beetle - Xestonotus lugubris

Ground Beetle - Xestonotus lugubris
Holbrook, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA
August 14, 2008
Size: 10mm

Moved from Ground Beetles.

Xestonotus lugubris
based on my microscopic examination of this vouchered specimen. Pronotum is rather distinctive with widely projected anterior angles, well rounded posterior angles, and punctae across the base. Thanks Tom.

Xestonotus lugubris
would be a nice match

That looks like a match
But just to be sure, I'll wait to make the new genus and species pages after Peter Messer examines the specimen.
