Geocoridae? - Labops hirtus - female

Geocoridae? - Labops hirtus - Female
Yuba Pass, Sierra County, California, USA
July 10, 2008
Size: 4.5 mm
There were quite a few of these bugs congregating on some grasses in a mountain meadow. I think these are big-eyed bugs, but would like confirmation... Perhaps genus Geocorus?

This is now -
specimen CASENT 9096814.

It looks like L. hirtus, short-wing type female.
Partly pale hind tibiae, an entirely black scutellum, pale lateral margins of wings, and a pale median line on the fron strongly suggest L. hirtus.

Thanks!
Will move to species page...

Miridae
(not weird enough to qualify for a geocorid :-) And: geocorids don't care much about grass, they patrol soil/litter

Thanks V -
for the ID and information. Upon further searching, looks quite similar to this photo of a Labops "black grass bug" photo from Colorado State U. - what do you think?

and somewhat similar to our only image of Labops in BG:

I think it's a match -- great job!

Thanks, V -
seems safe to move to genus page for now...
