Bee Fly - Lepidophora lutea

Bee Fly - Lepidophora lutea
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
August 16, 2008
Making its August appearance -- two years ago I photographed one of these flies in August, too.

Moved
Moved from Scaly Bee Fly.

Lepidophora
This is actually L. lutea, as it has yellow scales on the sides of the fourth abdominal segment.

L. lutea
Thanks for the correction. Two years ago I photographed one of these flies that was identified as L. lepidocera so I just made the assumption this one was the same species. I wonder if the ID for the one photographed in 2006 was incorrect?

Lepidophora
Yes, your other image is L. lutea as well.
