Specific epithet from the host plant genus (Malus).

Range

Records from Wisconsin, Ontario, Quebec and Maine, south to North Carolina. (3)
Type locality: Illinois (bred from larvae on apple leaves by Mr. Coquillett). (1)

Food

Larvae feed on the leaves of apple, pear and plum. (4), (1)
