Tachinid Fly - Cylindromyia

Tachinid Fly - Cylindromyia
Lake Elizabeth, Fremont, Alameda County, California, USA
August 17, 2008

Probably intermedia
Most (if not all) of these California Cylindromyia with very red abdomens are intermedia. I can't see details here to confirm.

This is a fly -
in the Tachinidae family, genus Cylindromyia. See an example here at bugguide.
