Moved from Astrotischeria.

I see what you mean. Maybe this is actually two overlapping Cremastobombycia mines of different ages.

Moved from Unidentified Leaf Mines.

With the deteriorating leaves I can't confirm that all the mines in the vial are the same thing, but an adult Astrotischeria has emerged (from an upper-surface mine), and there is also a loose Astrotischeria pupa from which an adult failed to emerge. This underside mine in your photo does seem to be an Astrotischeria--a Calycomyza mine wouldn't be winkled like this, and a Cremastobombycia would be wrinkled all the way across and would have frass inside.

I'd thought they were all Ast
I'd labeled this photo incorrectly, giving an incorrect number to the specimen--sorry about that. This is from Dare county, but I'd given it an incorrect number. I am pretty sure that none of the ones from Dare County were Astroticheria (I am not sure where this leaf ended up).
Either way, ALL of the D3994 you have is Astroticheria from Fort Fisher. I have renumbered this specimen as D3978A--I think the wrinkled mine in the center is Cremastobombycia, and the stuff around it might be Calycomyza... After seeing the Astroticheria at Fort Fisher, I am pretty sure I did not see it in Dare County.
