Hunting on Anise: Cerceris? - Cerceris convergens

Hunting on Anise: Cerceris? - Cerceris convergens
Peters Canyon, Orange, Orange County, California, USA
August 17, 2008
Wasp would speed over to the plant, hover around it, and only briefly alight. My guess is that it was looking for prey; it didn't appear to be feeding. (I did see one later, visiting buckwheat and figure that's where they feed.) After making its circuit, the wasp would fly off, only to repeat the process a few minutes later.
