Frit Fly - Chlorops

Frit Fly - Chlorops
Dixville, New Hampshire, USA
June 20, 2005
Size: 4.5mm
There were about a dozen of these colorful little flies in a patch of tall grass. They were a little bigger than the others I've seen so far.

Thanks Ron
It sure does look like the Chlorops in the link.

A personal favorite, but I knew it only as a frit fly.
Peter and I are working to populate his UCI website with local species. For some odd reason, I never paid attention to his photo and caption.

This is a great shot!
It actually shows a grass fly on grass! Most of the ones I have seen seem to be on leaves!

Thanks
I've seen them in grass a number of times, but they're usually deep enough in so I can't get a picture.

Could this be Chlorops sp?
