Epicauta? species - Epicauta atrata
Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge, Knox County, Tennessee, USA
August 3, 2008
One of these beetles look very much like Epicauta pestifera. The other seems the same except for the reddish color on its head. I didn't find anything in Epicauta on BugGuide with that color. Could it be an immature?

Epicauta atrata
sexes may have differently colored heads

Yes, Epicauta.
You may have two species here, not sure. Epicauta is a very complicated genus!
