Davis' Tree Cricket 5th instar stage - Oecanthus exclamationis - male

Davis' Tree Cricket 5th instar stage - Oecanthus exclamationis - Male
Racine, Racine County, Wisconsin, USA
August 20, 2008
Size: 15mm
This tree cricket was the most secretive of all I've been raising, so this is the first good photos of it's antennal markings -- and the first time I realized it is a Davis' Tree Cricket. The markings resemble an upside down exclamation point, hence their name 'O. exclamationis'. The bottom mark does not have a ' J ' shape. Also note the golden tinge on the head, and the legs remain translucent.
