Bee Fly - Dipalta

Bee Fly - Dipalta
Wilderness State Park, Emmet County, Michigan, USA
August 10, 2008

Moved
Moved from Neodiplocampta.

Dipalta
This is Dipalta. It looks like it would fit in D. banksi, although the "species" in this genus are not well-defined and may be just dark and light ends of a cline.

"species"

Well from what I read online,
Well from what I read online, habitat is perfect for D banski. Sand dunes with a large concentration of their food (ant lions). This area had a ton of ant lions that I found earlier in the season. This bee fly was common in the exact area where I photographed this ant lion

Moved
Moved from Bee Flies.

ID
I would say Neodiplocampta sp.
